Wireless 2023

Student Music Network Preview:
by Summer Wilde

In previous years Wireless has popped up in locations like Crystal Palace, Birmingham and has even travelled as far to Germany in 2021, but this year it’s coming home. The rap and urban music festival is back at Finsbury Park for the ultimate summer music fest, with the biggest names we know and love travelling to North London this July. For many Londoners Wireless is a rite of passage festival and the first time many of the festival goers will get to pop on bucket hats and see their favourite American artists in the flesh.

This year Wireless’s American offerings include legend 50 Cent, who seems to be a fan of European Festivals in recent years, Playboi Carti and Travis Scott. The line-up rivals famed festival Rolling Loud and it’s exciting to see such a serious assemble for everyone’s favourite inner-city festival. However, what interests us more is the British female representation on the line-up including Tiffany Calver, Remi Burgz and the unstoppable FLO. Remi aka ‘Your Local Energy Provider’ has just got the new drive time slot on 1XTRA and Tiffany Calver has just ended her much loved reign as the host on The Rap Show on Radio 1 & 1XTRA, so Wireless will be the perfect opportunity for fans to see her in action.

But let’s talk about FLO. Renee, Stella and Jorja burst onto the UK RnB scene with Cardboard Box last year. Apart from their Headline Show a couple weeks ago, there hasn’t been many opportunities to hear our new favourite girl band live, so it is a given they will get the excited crowds jumping, singing and dancing along. Our special mention has to go to Ice Spice, may she answer all our wishes and appear with PinkPanthress so we can all be blessed and hear Boys a Liar Pt.2 live.

With the full line-up not yet revealed, we may see some more exciting acts take the stage at Finsbury Park, but until then we will wait in ardent suspense.
