The Great Escape 2023

Student Music Network Preview: by Scott Hastie

With May just around the corner, music fans and the music industry from across the globe are gearing up for the biggest weekend of the year in new music, taking place on the beautiful beach in sunny Brighton.

The Great Escape returns for another year of hundreds of new artists from around the world on May 11th-13th. Taking place at a plethora of fantastic venues across Brighton be it pubs, clubs or even piers, there’s something for everyone at this festival.

Before we get to the artist highlights we’re excited about, it’s worth noting how perfect Brighton is. If you haven’t been to the city before, it has a magnificent colour to it, with many quirky streets, parks and of course the famous pier. If you want to check out the sights and sounds, check out our video from last year here.

In terms of artist highlights, there’s many of our favourites playing here at the Student Music Network. Our tipped artists on our Class Of list include returning Another Sky, L Devine and Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, Liverpool rockers STONE, viral sensation Michael Aldag and pop icon in the making Rose Gray.

Our absolute highlight must be Scottish rave rockers VLURE who play the Paganini Ballroom this year, after a barnstorming set on the pier in 2022.
